Homeless Voicemail

People are always looking for new places to reach their audience in an attempt to grab their attention.

In Belgium, Samusocial invited their users to change their voicemail messages.  Instead of the usual “Sorry I can’t get to the phone…“, a voice clip from a real homeless person was played down to them.  It starts “X cannot answer your call, but you can answer mine” before he explains that by texting donate to 4466, they can help him.

The platform was created with Belgium’s 4 biggest phone operators, and allowed users to change their voicemails with simply a few clicks, turning voicemails into a huge, free media opportunity.

The campaign reached 280,000 people in less than 4 days, raising 31,390 euros.
